“Developing and Producing Arabic Content” with Yara Al-Asmar and Faisal Al-Mutar
In the first episode of “Bel Arabi” podcast, Maher Gabra hosts Yara Al-Asmar and Faisal Saeed Al Mutar. Yara Al-Asmar is the Regional Strategy Manager for the Middle East and North Africa Office at the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
Faisal Saeed Al-Mutar is the Founder and President of Ideas Beyond Borders organization whose slogan is “Making the Inaccessible Accessible” and whose main goal is to enrich the Arabic digital content.
Faisal tells us about his life experience in Iraq and the events that befell his family as a result of widespread terrorist organizations, such as Al Qaeda. Faisal shares how this forced him to leave Iraq and end up in New York. He also explains why he founded Ideas Beyond Borders, which seeks the revival of the culture of life and science in the Arab world.
Yara Al-Asmar, for her part, talks about her experience and contribution to the October 2019 Lebanese uprising. She also discusses the issue of sectarianism and its real causes in Lebanon. In addition, Yara talks about her work at the German Friedrich Naumann Foundation and about the way she expresses herself and her liberal ideas through her work at the institution.
Yara and Faisal explain together that they decided to produce the “Bel Arabi” podcast to support free voices in the Arab world.
