Yasser Akkawi

What is the relationship between developing business administration and improving human rights conditions? What are the most prominent human rights violations committed by companies, whether at the level of the environment, society or the level of privacy? How does developing corporate governance and standards help reduce or combat these violations?

Maher Gabra discusses these and other questions with Mr. Yasser Akkawi, a Lebanese economic journalist, activist, and publisher in the field of corporate governance and human rights. Yasser Akkawi is the editor-in-chief of The Executive, an online magazine specializing in economics and business in the MENA region. He has been a member of the Human Rights Committee of Human Rights Watch in the Middle East region since 2010, and he is also an active member of several civil society organizations in Lebanon. He also teaches entrepreneurship and management at the American University of Beirut.
